This set of work arise from Panachai reflection and response on given context and theme that is ‘Archeological Artifacts in Suvarnabhumi , The Discovery of Gold Ornaments in Phukhao Thong ,Ranong Province‘ and one category of those objects that Panachai specifically focus on are Roman gold coins. In a broader perspective these set of coins could refer to the notion of exchanging commerce, interchanging and transference but also uncertainty. That is to say they seemingly convey ambiguity idealism and truth about Suvarnabhumi where its originality also rises into question and debatabl topic.
Such Roman gold coins also seem to be locally reproduced in Southern part of Thailand according to archeological finds in Khlong Thom , Krabi Province.
Panachai appropriates such initial data as part of his artwork ‘Datum’ the term which means ‘a single piece of information’. Whereas he straightforwardly implies the limitation of associated data that he could access, the work also suggests the modest and subtle status of its own relation to the broader context and other grand narratives.
Panachai art practices genuinely dealing with recast and reproduction of things, he also currently explores and embeds his interest in museum display methodology in his installation as can be seen in this artwork which exhibits such approach. While the work resembles some sort of coinage mold, it is simply the set of sculpture piece places in wooden cabinets which long-situated in the house where they are being shown.
