Work title: So So
2012
Medium : mixed media installation with sound
Exhibition : There is No Plan, Central St. Martins degree show. June 2012
Statement:
These body of works inspired by space of marginal, outmoded and obsolescence.
In So So, 2012 ,the structure of the shed itself is similar to a construction worker temporary home in Thailand. The fundamental structure of the pieces comprised of wooden pallet which give it the notion of uncertainty and mobility and it actually can be moved anywhere.
The work also sprung from my passion in moulding and casting therefore the rust on those corrugate sheets is artificially constructed. That is to say the work itself enter the realm of simulacrum , non-place become unrepresentable, become nothing other than itself.
It also picked up in term of identity matter as I use the shed as my working space as if I cast myself as a construction worker.
The moment a spectator enter the work he/she can notice something being made ,radio being played in someone working space as if a viewer become the intruder yet the space itself is nothing but the art work perhaps the viewer him/herself is now in the position of the non-place.
